centre for social innovation: community bond book

The Challenge

The Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) had an amazing story to tell.  They raised $2 million toward the purchase and renovation of a 36,000-square-foot building in a whirlwind eight months.  They wanted to inspire other organizations to convert their social capital into real capital.

The Solution

We produced a meaty manual on their innovative and democratic fundraising tool, The Community Bond. I worked directly with with CSI founder and executive director Tonya Surman as I edited a collaborative draft of the book to clarify structure, unify the tone and prepare for the design team.   To download a free excerpt of the book, please click here.

evergreen brick works: interpretive signs

The Challenge

Produce 23 friendly, informative panels highlighting the ecological, historical and sustainable design features of Evergreen Brick Works.

The Solution

Existing rough drafts and raw research notes needed my sharp pen to unify the voice and prepare for design.

Feedback from a community focus group helped test our thinking and keep the content relevant.

Alongside an illustrator and graphic designer I worked to balance text and visuals, and managed feedback from a number of stakeholders.

evergreen brick works: donor thank you book

“Erin did a great job in capturing the construction process, but more importantly, the spirit of what The Brick Works means to those involved.”

– Nicola Hives, Associate Manager, Individual Giving
Evergreen Brick Works

The Challenge

Create a beautiful holiday gift for major donors to the Evergreen Brick Works project. The book would document each stage of the site’s 8-year transformation and showcase outstanding photography.

The Solution

Collaborating with a graphic designer, I led the creative direction, and conducted all research, writing, and edits to get this to the printers and back in time for a Christmas delivery.
