The City of Oshawa was ready to produce the 2012 edition of their award-winning brochure. The city is in the midst of an exciting economic transformation, with many sectors maturing at the same time.
I worked closely with a graphic designer to ensure the copy suited the new design, bringing the “mosaic” theme into proper focus.
Blackline Law required some fresh content for their blog. They also had some draft web text written in several different voices that wasn’t quite working.
I researched and wrote articles that serve to educate and recruit new clients, and edited existing copy in a smooth, clean voice that reflected their brand.
CIFAR, The Canadian Institute for Advanced Research, needed to produce a hybrid publication: part annual report and part Reach magazine.
I co-ordinated production from the initial line-up through final printing. I also wrote pieces and edited the overall document.

This exhibit attempts to explain to a general audience the elements of adaptive re-use and engineering that went into making Evergreen Brick Works, including the LEED Platinum Centre For Green Cities building.
The project involved a close collaboration between the writer (me!), artists, graphic designers and sustainability gurus.
Using careful wordsmithing, diagrams, photography and illustration, we created wall-sized panels that flank the main floor hallway at Evergreen Brick Works.

Evergreen needed to tell the story of how their organization transformed Evergreen Brick Works from a wild idea to a world-class environmental education centre.
I worked closely with a film-maker to research and interview key members of the project from philanthropists to architects to staff. I then transcribed all interviews, created the outline, and then co-wrote the final report with Evergreen’s Seana Irvine.
